Description

Learn the fundamentals of charcoal drawing. Go from basic sketching to fine detail as you create a life-like animal portrait. Particular attention will be paid to contrast, value, and chiaroscuro.

Supplies: You can purchase the supplies from Blick, Jerry’s Artarama (online), and amazon.

•Pan Pastel Ultra Soft Artist Pastel, Black (its a round, flat container) 

• Sofft Knife tool with Covers Pointed No.4 ; you can also get the other shapes and tools but pointed is the most important 

• White Charcoal Pencils (General Pencils)

• HB Charcoal Pencils (General Pencils) 

• 2B Medium Charcoal Pencils (General Pencils)

• 4B Medium Charcoal Pencils (General Pencils)

• Paper Mate Tuff Stuff Eraser Stick 

• Pencil Lengthener, Regular Beechwood 

•gray toned paper from strathmore (11x14 or bigger) 

• Pencil sharpener * I suggest AFMAT charcoal pencil sharpener from amazon*

•paper towel roll 

•sketchbook for drawing

•pen or pencil for note taking 

Extra but not required:

•2H Extra Hard Charcoal Pencils

•charcoal white paper 

•smudgers 

•other pastel colors or charcoal colors 

•kneaded eraser
